Dr. Daniel A. Salifou is an American business owner, teacher, and consultant who is known for his knowledge in economic growth, business continuity planning, and enterprise risk management. As the president of DS Concepts Consulting LLC, he has made a big difference in both business and education with his new ideas and hard work as a teacher.
In 2002, Dr. Salifou began his tenure at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) within the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS), where he held various positions as a government contractor over a span of seven years. His roles included serving as an executive assistant to the Deputy Administrator and a special assistant to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). His primary responsibilities encompassed managing projects, assisting with administrative tasks, and implementing IT initiatives, all aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring business continuity.
Using his vast background in project management and government, Dr. Salifou established DS Concepts Consulting LLC (DSCC) in 2015. This consulting firm focuses on creating plans for business continuity, managing enterprise risk, and economic growth, especially for small businesses and the government. Under his direction, DSCC has been able to handle tough problems and help a wide range of clients grow in a way that lasts. For small businesses and the government, the company provides full consulting services for continuity of operations plans (COOP), strategies to lower risks and improve operating resilience, and custom solutions to help growth and development. DSCC also offers study and courses on entrepreneurship as well as online training for small to medium-sized businesses and individuals.
DSCC grew its reach in 2018 when it opened SahelPride.org, an online store that only sells handmade art collections from West Africa. This project not only expanded what DSCC had to give, but it also helped cultural workers, especially those from the Republic of Niger. The Tuareg and Wodaabe tribes’ traditional dances and traditions are used as inspiration for SahelPride.org’s art. The organization actively supports artists from Niamey’s historic art museum. The store sells one-of-a-kind items like bright amulets, leather camel bags, silver daggers, swords, and carved wooden masks. All of these items were made by hand.
SahelPride.org also offers the Cross of Agadez (or Croix d’Agadez), which is a piece of jewelry worn by the nomadic Tuareg people in Northern Niger. The upper ring and bottom body of this jewelry stand out because they are decorated with patterns that are typical of Tuareg jewelry making. This shows the skill and practice of Tuareg blacksmiths (inaden), who used the “lost wax” method to make it. The Cross of Agadez has a top ring and a bottom body with different parts, or “horns,” made of silver, less valuable metals, or soft stone, which makes each design unique and complex.
This website, SahelPride.org, connects the cultural riches of Niger to the United States and makes them a part of the world’s culture. Dr. Salifou’s project promotes handcrafted items that reflect the rich heritage of the Sahel area. This helps people understand and appreciate the culture and gives talented artisans a way to make money. SahelPride.org’s goals are to protect and promote traditional art forms and techniques, give artisans a market so they can make a living and support long-term growth, and link one-of-a-kind cultural items to the larger cultural globalization trends of the 21st century.
The fact that Dr. Daniel A. Salifou left the USDA to start DS Concepts Consulting LLC and SahelPride.org shows how dedicated he is to ensuring business stability, managing risk, and preserving culture. His long and varied career shows how business knowledge and a love of cultural history can work together to make a big difference and connect people around the world. Through his work, Dr. Salifou has shown that cultural understanding and strategic planning can go together, making both business and cultural pro
